After our well deserved summer break Jon’s VoiceMale Flying Circus roared back 🏎️🏍️🛴 in to action again last night - with sweet harmonies and smiling faces it was almost as if we hadn’t been away!!!! Jon said it was great to be back with what he described as his Big Singing Machine🎼🎵😀. Numbers were slightly down with a combination of holidays, work, illness, summer guests and the toon playing on tv contributing to the lower than normal turnout. A big hurrah 🙌 to Dave E who alone kept the tenors end up and cheers 🥂 to Mike R and Rik who kept the basses going - dum!!!😂 Jon promised a gentle, unstressful return to singing and his promise started well with a very melodic rendering from all on Fields of Gold - the sun really had something to be jealous about!!! Then the wheel came off - John Ball, I can hew, Rolling down the river and Rio Grand in quick succession - luckily time ran out otherwise we’d have been doing The Song goes on and This Train 🚂 as well. With raw throats and shredded vocal cords it was time to retire to the pub and sample Margo’s very fine ale 🍺 🍺🍺 Thus was a successful return to song and harmony achieved - we’ve got a gig on the 9th September so there is only one practice to go to reacquaint ourselves with the music, get our timing right and get our Stage craft improved.
